Wavedash
Step by Step Guide on how to wavedash
How To Wavedash Correctly
Example Clip of a Good Wavedash
What was done right? - Sequence of Events
Jumped 1 time
Leaned back - not too much
Wait for my BACK wheels to touch the ground
Held the directional controls forwards (analog stick)
Used my second jump
Wave-dashed Successfully!

The Wavedash
Basic Wavedash
In this method, you perform a forward dodge (front flip) and quickly pull your directional controls forward immediately after flipping. This is the preferred way to learn the fundamentals
Advanced Wavedash
The advanced technique involves using air roll to position your car sideways just before hitting the ground. This sideways landing allows you to have more control and change directions quickly.
Step-by-Step
Step 1
Jump in the air and ONLY tilt your car backwards
Repeat 10 times
This fundamental practice readies you for advanced maneuvers, preventing confusion as you integrate more buttons.
Step 2a
Be patient and wait for your wheels to make contact with the ground
This is nearly the MAX angle that you can be to perform a wavedash
Step 2b
As long as all 4 wheels are not touching the ground, you can still perform a wavedash
This is a good angle to be at when performing a wavedash
Step 3
Right before your back wheels hit the ground, move your directional controls in the same direction as your cars momentum.
a. directional controls determines the direction for the wavedash
Step 3a
If the car is going forwards, move your directional controls forwards
Step 3b
If your car is sideways, you need to move your directional controls sideways
Part 2 - Chaindash
IMPORTANT - Only attempt chain-dashes once you can perform regular wave-dashes.
Master the basics before attempting more advanced variants.
Step 1
Hold your power slide button
a. Watch the video in 2b and focus on my LB button. This is my power-slide button. Notice, I don't let go until I am done with the movement
Step 2
After you complete 1 wave-dash, jump in the air immediately
Freeplay Drills
When Should You Wavedash?
To get supersonic - Wavedashing is the fastest way without boost (2 wave-dashes into a flip)
Recoveries! Recoveries! Recoveries!
Better positioning / rotate faster (More Advanced)
Fake the opponents (More Advanced)
Pros
1. Increases your speed quickly without using boost
2. Introductory level to advanced skills
3. Improved control as you gain speed
a. As you gain speed, you have more control of your car compared to a flip
b. When you flip, you lose car control. Sometimes you fly past the ball and there was nothing you could do.
Cons
1. Takes longer to go faster
a. You have to wait to land before you can gain speed compared to a flip where it is immediate
2. You can lose control of your car if you don't hold power-slide or if you mess up the wavedash
